Cookie Policy

This page lists the cookies and similar storage BookIntelReport.com actually uses. It supplements the Privacy Policy. Questions go to support@bookintelreport.com.

1. Essential cookie

When you sign in (magic link or Google), the server sets an HTTP-only cookie named app_session_id. It is scoped to path /, uses SameSite=None, and is marked Secure on HTTPS. It keeps you logged in. Signing out clears it. The signed-in service does not work without it.

2. Preference cookie

The signed-in app sidebar writes a cookie named sidebar_state (value true or false) when you open or close it. Path /, maximum age 7 days. It only remembers that layout choice. It is not used for advertising.

3. Storage that is not a cookie

The cookie banner stores your choice in the browser’s local storage under the key bir_cookie_consent, as accepted or declined. That value is not sent to our server as a cookie. The signed-in app may also keep on-device preferences (theme, chat notice, review prompt, sidebar width, and launch-checklist ticks) in local storage. Those are not HTTP cookies.

4. Analytics cookies

• Google Analytics G-7MHLHBDSVD. The site HTML loads this Google tag on each page. Google may set analytics cookies (such as _ga) when the tag runs, including before you use the banner.
• Google Analytics G-LLYC44D03T. This second tag loads only after you choose Accept All, or on a later visit if bir_cookie_consent is already accepted. Decline does not load this tag. Decline does not remove the G-7MHLHBDSVD tag that is already in the page.

5. Advertising cookies

On blog posts, the article archive, and the pages /about, /disclaimer, and /free-guide, the site loads Google AdSense publisher ID ca-pub-1051825252184436. Google and its partners may set advertising cookies to serve and measure ads. The cookie banner does not turn this script off. The homepage does not load that AdSense script.

6. Cookies set by other sites after you leave

Affiliate links use Amazon Associates tag seperts-20 and Bookshop.org affiliate ID 122250. Amazon or Bookshop.org may set their own cookies after you follow those links. We do not set those cookies on our pages. Details are on the Affiliate Disclosure.

7. Your choices

• Accept All stores accepted and loads Google Analytics G-LLYC44D03T.
• Decline stores declined and does not load G-LLYC44D03T. The session cookie, the sidebar cookie, the G-7MHLHBDSVD tag in the page HTML, and AdSense on the content pages above still work as described.
• You can delete cookies and site data in your browser at any time. Deleting bir_cookie_consent shows the banner again.

8. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to know, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

We do not sell personal information for money. Analytics and advertising cookies can share identifiers and internet activity (pages viewed, and browser or device data) with Google for measurement and cross-context advertising. California law can treat that as “sharing.”

To opt out of sharing that we control, email support@bookintelreport.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” You may also use Decline on the banner for the optional Analytics property, and Google Ads Settings for personalized ads. We do not respond to the browser Do Not Track signal. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. An authorized agent may submit a request to the same address.
