What a BookIntel scan is, and what it is not
A BookIntel scan is a paid manuscript dossier for Amazon KDP authors. It is research you review. It is not a rank, sales, or royalty guarantee, and it is not an Amazon service. The questions below are the public answers. A short version also sits on the homepage; this page is the full one.

What is a BookIntel scan?
A BookIntel scan is a one-time, paid analysis of a manuscript you upload (PDF or DOCX) and the book details you enter, such as title, genre, and target markets. BookIntelReport reads that material and returns a dossier in your account. Depending on the tier, the dossier can include KDP keyword notes, trope and genre notes, opening-page notes, market positioning, a short field summary, a final assessment, AMS ad keywords, pricing notes, comparable-title suggestions, series notes, and cover notes. Optional add-ons add a critical read (Devil's Advocate) or a simulated reader debrief (Field Agent). A redacted example of the layout is on the sample dossier page. The scan does not publish your book.
What is a BookIntel report not?
A BookIntel report is not a promise of sales, rank, reviews, or royalties. It is not an Amazon, Kindle Direct Publishing, or Kindle Unlimited product, and it does not file your listing with Amazon. It is not a human editor, literary agent, cover designer, or publishing house. It does not prove that a manuscript will sell, and it does not replace your own judgment. You choose what, if anything, to paste into KDP.
Does a BookIntel scan guarantee bestseller rank, sales, or royalties?
No. BookIntelReport does not guarantee bestseller rank, sales, reviews, ad performance, category eligibility, or royalties. Amazon results depend on factors this site does not control, including your cover, price, blurb, category rules, ads, and reader demand. No statement on this site promises a particular rank or revenue number. Treat the dossier as research you review and edit, not as a forecast.
Who writes the wording in a BookIntel report?
The dossier is generated with AI from your manuscript and any keyword or competitor data you choose to attach. AI output can be wrong, generic, outdated, or a poor fit for your book. Check names, categories, prices, and comparable titles before you use them. BookIntelReport is an analysis tool operated by Taciturn Studios LLC. It is not a substitute for professional legal, tax, or editorial advice.
What do I need to submit for a scan?
You need an account, a paid tier or an unused bundle credit, a PDF or DOCX manuscript, and basic metadata such as title, genre, and the markets you care about. There is no minimum page count. Opening-page and trope notes are more useful when the file includes real manuscript pages rather than only a one-paragraph pitch. Upload only a manuscript you have the rights to analyze.
Do I have to paste Publisher Rocket or other keyword data?
No. Keyword and competitor data are optional. You can paste your own research, including a Publisher Rocket export, use Amazon autocomplete suggestions when that option is offered, or use Rainforest market data if an API key is configured for the account. A scan can still run from the manuscript alone. Search-volume and competition figures appear only when a data source supplies them. They are not Amazon's official statistics, and a manuscript-only scan does not invent a live sales forecast.
What does each BookIntel price include?
Starter is $39.99 and covers keywords, tropes, opening-page notes, market positioning, and a short field summary. Full Intel is $59.99 and adds the final assessment, AMS ad keywords, pricing notes, comparable titles, series notes, and cover notes. Full Intel plus Devil's Advocate is $79.99. Full Intel plus Field Agent is $89.99. Complete Clearance is $109.99 and includes Full Intel plus both add-ons. The 5-Report Intelligence Pack is $179.99 (five Full Intel reports, about $120 less than buying them separately). The 10-Report Analyst Pack is $329.99 (ten Full Intel reports, about $270 less than buying them separately). Bundle credits stay on your account and do not expire. How long does a BookIntel scan take?
Most scans finish in a few minutes, often under three. A longer manuscript or a busy queue can take longer. When the dossier is ready it shows up in your dashboard. A typical turnaround under three minutes is not a guaranteed clock time.
Can I scan a book that is not published yet?
Yes. Many authors run a scan before they fill in KDP, so they can edit keywords, categories, and description before launch. You can also scan a book that is already listed. The report does not update the live Amazon page by itself.
Does BookIntel change my KDP listing?
No. BookIntelReport does not log into Amazon and does not publish or edit your book. An optional browser extension can help copy fields from a dossier into KDP screens you already have open. You still review and submit those fields. Amazon can reject keywords or categories that break KDP rules. Compliance stays with you.
What happens to my manuscript?
The file is processed to produce your report. You keep the copyright. Uploading grants Taciturn Studios LLC only a limited right to process the file for that report. We do not sell manuscript text. Your book record can keep the report plus a short excerpt and extracted notes so you can reopen the dossier. The privacy policy states how long uploaded files are kept, including deletion of manuscript files on the schedule written there. Do not upload a manuscript you do not have rights to analyze.
Can I get a refund?
If the report has not been generated or opened, you can request a refund within 7 days of purchase by emailing support@bookintelreport.com or using the contact page. Once a dossier has been generated or accessed, it counts as delivered and is not refundable. For a 5-pack or 10-pack, the 7-day window covers the whole bundle only if no credit has been used; if some credits were used, any refund is pro-rated for unused credits. If a dossier fails to generate because of a technical error on our side, contact support with the report ID and we will refund that purchase or generate it again. Is BookIntelReport part of Amazon?
No. BookIntelReport is an independent product of Taciturn Studios LLC. It is not endorsed by Amazon and it is not an Amazon service. The site does participate in the Amazon Associates program (tag seperts-20) and the Bookshop.org affiliate program (ID 122250). Those are advertising links. Buying a recommended book does not change your dossier and does not improve your rank.
Where can I see an example report?
The sample dossier is a redacted demo with a fictional title, so you can see how sections are laid out. It is not your book. It is not a promise that your scan will reach the same conclusions, use the same keywords, or look identical.
How should I use a BookIntel report?
Read it, drop what does not fit the book, and edit anything you paste into KDP or an ad account. Start with notes you can check yourself: whether a keyword belongs in the seven KDP slots, whether a category fits the book, and whether the opening matches the promise in the description. Run another scan after a major revision if you want a fresh pass. One report cannot tell you the single correct price or the winning ad.
